Last issue, we reported that the estimated completion of the Ivanhoe Reservoir aeration
and recirculation project was moving to winter 2024. Now the completion date is anyone’s
guess. After pump failures and the recent rains, which required that more water be
pumped from Ivanhoe Reservoir to the Silver Lake Reservoir, the Los Angeles department
of Water and Power (DWP) noted ”… that the schedule has changed…” but did not
provide a completion date. However, SLT estimates the finish date will move to 2025.
DWP began pumping water from the Ivanhoe Reservoir into the Silver Lake Reservoir in
early August 2022 and pumps will continue to operate from Monday through Saturday,
7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., until the Ivanhoe Reservoir is completely drained. Work on the
aeration and recirculation system will then begin.
