According to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP), work on the
Silver Lake Reservoirs aeration and recirculation systems will begin this Spring and
continue though mid-2022. During the construction of the recirculation system, the water in
the water in Ivanhoe Reservoir will be drained into the Silver Lake Reservoir sometime in August 2021 and returned in April 2022. Once the work within Ivanhoe is completed, the reservoir will be refilled with water from the Silver Lake Reservoir via the new recirculation system and supplemented with groundwater from a local well, if needed. Silver Lake Reservoir will not be drained.
LADWP will present the project plan at an upcoming Silver Lake Together virtual community meeting at 6:00 p.m., Monday, March 22. To attend, email: editor@silverlaketogether.com
The Silver Lake Reservoir Complex (SLRC) is an operational facility and LADWP
continues to maintain the open water bodies, including maintenance of the water quality to
control algae growth and reduce potential odors from anaerobic (lack of oxygen) conditions.
