Silver Lake Together is proud to announce our endorsement of Councilmember Mitch O’Farrell to represent Council District 13, which includes most of Silver Lake. As one of
the two councilmembers who represent our neighborhood, Mr. O’Farrell has the experience, intelligence and confidence to help guide Silver Lake and its residents through the challenging years that lie ahead. His bold efforts to restore Echo Park Lake and return it to the community were controversial, but ultimately successful. We feel Mr. O’Farrell was enlightened by that experience and will not allow the Silver Lake Recreation Center Complex to deteriorate by removing fencing as proposed in the 2022 Reservoirs Master Plan.
Mr. O’Farrell also demonstrated his leadership qualities as one of the most vocal elected
officials to express full-throated admonishment and demand for resignations of former
Councilmember Nury Martinez, Councilmembers De Leon and Cedillo, and former County
Fed chairperson Herrera. He leads the city in creating housing (15,000+ total units and
7,000 units of permanent supportive housing approved) and is known for providing
exceptional services to the communities he represents.
We look forward to his re-election and working closely with his staff to help protect and
improve the quality of life for all Silver Lake residents.
