Many people picture sunny shores or beautiful forests when thinking about a vacation. A street vacation, however, is nothing so glamorous or relaxing: it is the removal of public access or a process whereby the government transfers the right-of-way of a public street, highway or alley to a private property owner. Architect and SLT Co-founder Scott Plante explains why a section of Maltman Avenue, situated between Effie Street and Crestmont Avenue, is being considered for a vacation by the City of Los Angeles. Currently a green space with mature plants, this space has also been used for years as a walkway between Crestmont and Sunset.
